Contact element

Post by BendeBalint »

Hello everyone!

I'd like to use a simple contact element. I have two nodes, that I'd like to connect. One of the nodes is fixed, the other is free. How can I define a contact, that is active just in compression.

Thanks!

extra information: I use beamcolumn elements with 3 dof at nodes, first I try to use simple contact 2D element, but i realise that master and slave nodes have 2 dof

if the simplecontact and beam contact elements do not suit .. you could just use a zero length element between the 2 nodes .. with an appropriate uniaxialMaterial that is stiff in compression and has some nominal value for tension.
