Dear all.,
I am modeling progressive collapse in OpenSees but there is problem in it. I use example 8 for 3d frame modeling and for removed element I use an element with very small section. for modeling sudden removal effect I apply removed element reaction as time series load for 5 second and in 0.01 sec I changed it to zero. I use dynamic analysis as it used for seismic analysis as it used in example 8.I use following command for time series load.
" set LoadSeries "Series -dt 0.01 -filePath cycload.txt -factor 1";the problem is,
pattern Plain 102 "Series -dt 0.01 -filePath $LoadSeries"{
load 20101 0 1 0 0 0 0
}
but the problem is:
after load in time series is changed to zero, removal point should have vibration for several second and after that converge to a number. this vibration is seen in Sap2000 and Zeus NL but in OpenSees the amplitudes are very small and converge in 0.01 to 0.02 second. I removed rigid diaphragm but still have this problem in vertical direction. vibration should have almost sinusoidal but it seems as a line.
if you know about that I appropriate your help.

Re: Progressive collapse
it does work .. there must be a problem in the model.
