nodal rotations?

Post by civily »

Hi,
I'm a new user ,I have a question and would appreciate your help..
Is there a nodal rotation recorder?..Considering plastic analysis of a fixed-fixed beam,I tried 2D/3D modeling but for both cases I got zero rotations...For 2D I specified DOF 3 for rotations and 6 for 3D case...
I'm using nonlinearbeamcolumn element and elastic-perfectly plastic material...This might not be the way for getting the rotations but here's the command I used..
recorder Node -file output/Node2.out -time -node 2 -dof 2 disp (For 2D)
recorder Node -file output/Node2.out -time -node 2 -dof 6 disp (for 3D)

Thanks in advance...

for a fixed-end boundary conditions your nodal rotations are zero. You are doing the right procedures to get nodal rotations.
i think that what you want are element-end rotations. i would recommend getting that from the end curvature and selecting a hinge length.
there is the plasticRotation recorder, but i dont' think it is what you want.
