force spring

Post by susan »

Hi

I have modeled a linear spring in a 3d structure.
I want to get the spring force, i used the recorder command but the output has 6 column numbers with different values. Which of them shows the spring force?

Tnx

Hi Susan,

if you are in a 3D problem the output is represented by 6 values (axial load, two shear forces, two bending moments and torsion). The order depends on how you defined the recorder (globalForce or localForce).

Dear Andrea

Tnx for your comment. I agree with you. But my question is what does the moment, shear and torsion mean for an axial spring?!

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

In my experience I used rotational springfor the (in 2D problems) with the output represented by two columns (one for the moment, and the other for the rotation). Maybe you can post the part of the code with the definition of the spring in order to a better understanding.
