How to determine the plastic hinges in nonlinear analysis

Post by wcq19811982 »

In order to determine the time at which the plastic hinges occurred and the order that appear during the seismic waves inputting,
what elements should be adopted in the analysis, FBE, DBE, BWH or others?
How to realize that specifically?
Can some examples or relative literatures be shared?
Thank you

You can use any of the three elements you suggested if you find them appropriate for the type of the structure you are modeling. If you know the yielding moment for each element of your structure record sectional moments at the critical sections versus time and truck the order in which the yielding moment is exceeded. Unfortunately we do not have graphical user interface that can help you visualize this during transient analysis.
