The file in the manual returns zero force of viscous element

Dear all
I used the file matTest.tcl in the opensees manual to obtain a force-displacement response of a viscous element.
But the results are zero force for the case. Can anyone help to tackle this problem?

Based on the experience of users that tested viscose material it works well only for alpha greater than 0.5. Try this and see if it is going to help you solve your problem.

Dear vesna
I modified the code and managed to get results for the case alpha=1 and harmonic excitation, but I obtained an unexpected result for the hysteretic loop( I mean some fluctuations in the oval shape).

It may be that the material is having a bug. As I am not a developer of the material I can not help you with regard to this.

Did you look at Maxwell material (http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... l_Material) to see if you can use it instead?
