SMA Material: superelastic shape-memory alloy material model
The current OpenSees 2.0 release includes the SMA Material.
However, it has been set up to have a No-Compression-ONLY model -- this works okey for cables.
Upon Frank's return, this material will be updated to be a more universal model (tension and compression)
if you have any questions, please contact the material author (see command language manual).

Does that mean that there will be no SMA material in the next version of OpenSees?silvia wrote:the author has asked to remove that material from the opensees library.
Do you know the reason why they have asked to remove it? I ask because I would like to know if they have asked to remove it because they have discovered a bug (or something else) that would be of concern for people using the SMA material in the current version.
Thanks
SMAs revisited
Hello everyone. It is my understanding that OpenSEES *used* to have the capability of simulating SMAs. Could someone please explain (briefly) when the capability was introduced, what exactly it could (and could not) do and when it was removed? I come across references to Fugazza's and Taftali's work but it is unclear to me what was embedded in OpenSEES, whenever it was embedded. Thank you in advance!!

Re: SMA Material: superelastic shape-memory alloy material m
Hi All...
I am reseraching about shape memory alloy.
Could you please help me to find out how I can model SMA in Opensees?
Is there any command to model SMA in Opensees?
Also I want to verify my model and I need a source so I can compare my result with other studies.
Best wishes
