Hello Silvia,

I am solving eigenvalues problem on bridge systems that I made, but when using eigen command the error provoked as below :


eigenSOE failed in solve<> - algorithm failed.

Could you tell me how to amend this in order to run it?

do you have masses defined?
how many eigenvalues are you asking for?
is your structure properly constrained?

Yes, I defined masses.
I asked like that eigen frequency 10.
I just constrained node representing the supports.

Meanwhile, my source program doesn't work for running the static analysis.

Error is as follows:

ProfileSPDLinDirectSolver::solve() - aii < 0 (i, aii): (33, 0)

WARNING NewtonRaphson::solveCurrentStep() -the LinearSysOfEqn failed in solve() StaticAnalysis::analyze() - the Algorithm failed at iteration: 0 with domain at load factor 1

OpenSees > analyze failed, returned: -3 error flag
BandArpackSolver::Error in dgbtrf_

Warning FrequencyAlgo::solveCurrentStep() - the EigenSOE failed in solve().EigenAnalysis::analyze() - algorithm failed

your static analysis failed as well .. you don't have enough constraints in your system.

I appreciate that you anwsered it. BTW, I would like to clarify your question: You mean supports? or connetions? Do you have good way to figure out the constraint problem?

Hello Silvia,

As you know I have created my model(it is simple), but it doesn't work so far. I cannot find my model problem to be run even though I tried to put the more constraints in my system. Could you take a look at this as below if you do not mind? I highly appreciate that you take a look at this.

what did you use to generate the nodes??
my guess is that you have some nodes that have not been connected to the model -- the eigensolver does not like that.

I just generated the nodes using excel and auto cad to find coordinate of my curved bridge. I already sent it to you. If getting this, please let me know.

why don't you start with a simpler model? This model is not so easy to manage...
