Whats the last news about -mass command?

Post by pejman_opensees »

Hi All
I have been far away from opensees for a while and I wonder if any change or amendment hase been done for -mass command (i.e. nonlinear beam column -mass), to make it better!
As far as I remembre, it wouldent work in combination with uniformExcitation command. Is there any efficient way to use this very distributed -mass command in nonlinear dynamic analysis?
I want to perform an earthquake record to a structure with distributed mass.
Thanks.

The -mass option does not work for UniformExcitation for nonLinearBeamColumn.
You have two possibilities:
1- use dispBeamColumn
2- concentrate the mass at the nodes.
I tried many times to ask to fix this bug, also to the creator of the element but no answer so far.
Maybe Frank can have a look to this? It shouldn't be a big effort for someone familiar with the code...
