pushover

Post by GALLO ANTONIO »

hi, I have a problem.
I used two types of models to make the analysis
pushover. In the first model I used
nonlinearBeamColumn element in the second model I
used dispBeamColumn element.
The pushover curve obtained with the second model
is about double compared to the first model.
is such a thing possible?
thanks.

It may happen if you just replace a nonlinearBeamColumn element with a dispBeamColumn element. The results you get using dispBeamColumn element are not correct. To get the same response you need more dispBeamColumn elements.

Hello,

I've used beamWithHinges and dispBeamColumn, but I haven't used nonlinearbeamcolumn. Can you please tell me where the documentation is for that element? I have looked at the Element Command page on the Wiki, but it's not there.

To address the original question, would adding more integration points be a way to improve the output from the element?

Thanks

Here is the documentation for nonlinearBeamColumn element.

http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... mn_Element

Adding integration points to dispBeamColumn element would not bring you to the same solution.
