nonliear time history analysis for frame-shearwall building

Post by coldweb »

I want to use OpenSEES to do a nonliear time history analysis for frame-shear wall buildings.
here,I use the nonliearBeamColumn element for columns and beams of frames, and use the dispBeamColumnInt elments for the wall.

there are some problems:
1. can the element of dispBeamColumnInt use in the nonliear time history analysis ? (http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... mn_Element)
2.how to consider the connections between the frame and the shear wall.
any one who have done this work before, please tell me how to do it?

1. yes, you can use dispBeamColumnInt for nonlinear analysis. However this element is 2D element.
2. the connection can be either rigid or pinned. it is on you to decide about this

Sorry, can this dispBeamColumnInt element work under cyclic loading?!? or does it just behave monotonically??? So is it possible to use it for time history analysis?

yes, it should be possible to use it for time history analysis.
