Fiber Section (2D analysis)

Post by kishor »

Hello all,

I am new in fiber section modelling. I am trying to use nonlinearBeamColumn element with fiber sections. The model is 2D. The beam is bending in weak axis. When I read the manual, inside Quadrilateral Patch Command:

it says in Note:
in 2D, bending is about the local z-axis.

I do not think that it will not work for weak axis (about y axis) bending but I am not sure what I should do for this. Hope some one will answer soon.

just define the fibers so that the z axis is along the weak axis, not the strong axis.

Thank you Silvia!
I was also thinking the same but I was not confident.
