viscous material convergence problem

Post by lightegg »

Hi! I am modeling a viscous damper with truss element. I use the control scrips for convergence. However, the result seems to be wrong. Small displacement variation can cause big velocity variation, which produce the big damping force. Someone say it's the integral method cause the ploblem. Would you please tell me how to solve this problem, and what is the best integral method(I use newmark) for modeling viscous damper. I know there are many tansient Integral methods which are not mentioned in the User Command-Language Manual.

post your script if the model is small.
