Asymmetric Moment Curvature Analysis

Post by jwaugh »

I want to run a moment curvature analysis on a asymmetric section. The section is T shaped, and if I run the analysis to apply the curvature across the flange, placing one flange tip in tension and the other tip in compression, then I should get a sloped neutral axis depth because the tension from the one flange tip and the stem trip cause the resultant tension force to be offset from the compression force. This means I will have moments in both the x and y directions.

The only way I can think of to get back this information is to run the moment curvature with 6 DOF at each node, however I can not figure out how to record the x and y moments I am interested in. If anyone has ever done this before and can give me some help that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
