how to control the stiffness of a cycle pushover column

i try to simulate a low cycle pushover column.but the initial stiffness is different from,or to say,much smaller then the test.the yield load is similar to that of test.i want to know how to control the stiffness of my simulation.or what Play a decisive role on the test?
