Different Modal Damping ratios

Post by dgugalde »

Dear all,

I read that it is possible to set different damping ratios to different modes using the new modalDamping command. Does anybody know how to do that?

Thanks!

no .. i never got around to adding that option to the interpreter .. it is a simple bit of coding if you want to do it.

Dear all,

I'd like to use modal damping for structural analyses on infilled RC frames. Do you know how to use the modal damping command (with different damping ratios for different modes) in the current OpenSees version? I've found no indication about that on the user guide.

Thanks!
