Corotational transformation in very strong motions

Post by ZVaghefi »

Hi,

The response of a SDOF system under horizontal excitation depends on period and damping of structure. This means that if the height and mass of the structure changes so that period and damping remains constant, the response should be constant. When the system is under seismic record having normal PGA, if we use any of transformations (Corotational, PDelta or Linear) the above rule is established, but when the high scaled record is applied on the structure, the response of structure with different heights (constant period) would be different. This problem is solved by using PDelta or Linear transformation.
I want to use Corotational transformation for the system under high excitation. In this case it also is expected that the responses depend on the period and damping not on the dimension of structure, but because of the problem mentioned this does not occur. Any idea on this issue? Thanks a lot.
