PyTzQz Uniaxial Materials

Post by shuaicai »

This command are used to construct uniaxial materials for p-y, t-z and q-z elements for modeling soil-structure interaction developed at UC Davis. While my question is how to use it, because it is not described by OpenSees Command Language lMannual in detai ? and can you give me a simple example? Thank you!

Hi,

If you check Wiki, you can find a good description on implementation of Py-Tz-Qz materials under the example "Laterally Loaded Pile Foundation".

Py-Tz-Qz material are used for soil-pile interaction iin wiki, could it used for soil-structure interaction? If it does, How to define its material parameter, such as $pult, $Y50, is it set as pile-soil interaction? Thank you.

These materials can connect beam-column elements to 2D plane-strain soil elements. If your structure is represented by a beam-element, you should be able to use these interfaces.

If you look at the explanation for PySimple1 material, you can find the references for defining the input variables.
