Dear sir/madame
I wonder what's the best way to model p-delta effects ? why some people use leaning columns instead of geomTransf PDelta command ? as far as I know both of them consider p-Large delta effects only ! and using leaning columns effecs shear forces undesirably !
Thank you in advance .

Re: p-delta effects
the leaning column is added for 2d analysis to model the PDelta effect of the gravity columns in the building. The user does not want to put these additional axial loads on the columns of the lateral resisting frame as they could effect the response. The PDelta traansformation is used on the column elements of the leaner column AND they can also be used on the columns of the lateral system (if axial load in these columns is considered large enough to have an effect)
Re: p-delta effects
Hi,
Is Adding leaning column to simulate P-dela effects done ony in 2D analysis?
