material type for steel connection

Post by kadirtopcu »

Hi to All,

I need to define a material type for a steel connection design. In tension zone of the material type will be a curve but the compression zone will be linear. I mean, I dont want my connection yield under compression. For this kind of behavior, which type of material can be used and how? For instance, I have used uniaxial multilinear material. I wonder, do I need to define two saparate material and use them in a parallel or series material? Or what kind of material do you recommend me to use for a steel connection?

thanks
