the node mass and the constant gravity load

Post by YoungXu »

what are different between the node mass and the constant gravity load? If I build the model like this. The upper nodes how to be selected the node mass or to be caculated the mass of beam and then set up?

if you apply rho to the elements, that rho is used to determine nodal mass. if you do a static analysis with just rho and no loads applied you will see that there is no displacements as the modal has no loads.

if you apply loads using element loads there is no mass applied for use in a transient analysis.

for frame structures typically uses assign nodal mass to set the structural mass and add element and nodal loads to assign the gravity loads.
