Hysteretic Material

Is there any way to account the reloading stiffness degration in the Hysteretic Material? It looks like it has only unloading stiffness degradtion.

Just bit more about my model. I used pattern UniformExcitation command to give acceleration input in the short direction of diaphragm only. I have used Pinching4 material for nonlinear response. Hope some one will give hint why I am getting the unusal displacement time history.

displacement time history results

Hello Everyone I am wondering with my displacement time history results using OpenSees. Some times, I am getting funny displacement time history results and it goes far out of the centre. For example, Please take a look the figure in link: http://www.imgplace.com/viewimg688/149/67odddisplacementtime...

Thank you Silvia!
I was also thinking the same but I was not confident.

Fiber Section (2D analysis)

Hello all, I am new in fiber section modelling. I am trying to use nonlinearBeamColumn element with fiber sections. The model is 2D. The beam is bending in weak axis. When I read the manual, inside Quadrilateral Patch Command: it says in Note: in 2D, bending is about the local z-axis. I do not think...

Thank you Dr. Frank. I have developed a simple 3D model with a quad element. The model run. For me it is kind of confusion as I can not define the Z cordinate of the node for quad element. Please check my below example model. Is that Ok modeling like this? Thank you again. # Units: kN, mm, sec # ---...

Can Quad Element be used in 3D model?

Hello all,

As quad element have 2D 2DOF, how can we use it in 3D modling having 3D 6DOF ? Is this possible? I am only interested on inplane stress strain in the quad element.

Thanks in advance

Thanks,
No I want the inelastic response (force verses deformation) of steel deck roof diaphragm connections. The connections are nails and screws.

Thank you!
I checked the possibility of using fiber section but I could not get idea how to use it for my purpose as it seems basically for RCC beam or column sections :(

Thank you for your patient! We have test data of connection for cyclic load in axial direction. I did a model with a zero length element which can represent very well with the test data. Now I need to integrate this model with a overhall shell model of diaphragm and connect with shell elements. I ne...

Does the capacity (strength and stiffness) of a joint increase if we define same string in each direction? I mean like resultant which I do not want.

From you suggestion I think they will work separately. Please clear me!

Thank you!

Zero length spring element with equal stiffness in all dir?

Dear Dr. Silvia and all

How to develope or have zero length spring element having equal axial stiffness in all directions?
