Thank you yalham I checked the report, it has mentioned the way the damping is assigned (which is according to Medina (2002), assigning the damping to the elastic elements). But I still have the problem. cause I don't have access to Elastic portions of the beam and column elements. as I have describ...

Assigning Damping to a Complex Frame

Dear Dr. Silvia I'm working on RC frames modeled with beamWithHinges for the Beam elements and dispBeamColumn with fiber section for the Column elements (the interaction between Axial and Moment is important for column's behavior in my research, so fiber section is selected). the frame...

Dear Silvia Thanks for your reply. this is what I've just received from Dr. Scott who has developed this element: "The rotation and curvature are related by the plastic hinge length. The exact relationship is described in "Plastic Hinge Integration Methods for Force-Based Beam-Column El...

Hi
would u plz tell me what's the reference for the relation u've talked about between Rotation and Curvature? (Rotation=Curvature*HingeLength)
I'm looking for the reference
Thanks in advance

Large Fundamental Period when SSI is considered

Dear Friends I'm working on SSI effects on the performance of 2D RC frames. the frame is modeled by means of elasticBC elements. Winkler approach is employed in the definition of SSI .soil springs are introduced to the model with zerolength elements in the vertical direction (a strip footing is also...

using truss elements as soil springs

I'm using truss elements to model soil springs taking advantage of "beam on winkler springs" concept. The superstructure is a 2D RC frame (of 3 stories and 2 bays). the problem is that the truss elements have to be fixed in their base otherwise the model won't run. I presume it is required...
