Rayleigh Damping

Hi everyone Is it possible to assign two different values of damping ratio within a Rayleigh Damping command in a structural model? In this regard, I have a model including two zerolength elements, I want to assign two different values of damping ratio to each element by Rayleigh Damping command, su...

Inelastic isolator

Hi everyone I want to model base isolated structures as 2-DOF systems with zerolength elements with inelastic isolator. The material model of isolator is bilinear such that the first line (linear region) matches on stress axis until yield point (Q) and the second line (inelastic region) starts from ...

Bouc–Wen model

Hi everyone I want to consider stiffness and strength degradation as well as pinching effects. For this aim, I want to use Bouc–Wen model but there are not parameters that consider pinching effects ($q $zetas $p $Shi $deltaShi $lambda) in Bouc–Wen model, so I have to use BWBN model but I have anothe...

Re: Hysteretic Material

Dear Dr fmk

You said that "post a simple 2 node, 1 zero length example that demonstrates the different answers."

I posted a simple example above. please guide me for solving the problem.

Re: Hysteretic Material

Thank you so much Dr. fmk A simple 2 node, 1 zero length example (a time history analysis subjected to ground motion) is posted below with two material models, firstly the ElasticPP material is activated, then the analysis is performed with the Hysteretic material. ##################################...

Hysteretic model

Hi everyone How can I change a Hysteretic material model to a bilinear material model such that lead to same analysis results? In this regard, firstly, I conducted time history analysis with the below material model (Elastic-Perfectly Plastic): uniaxialMaterial ElasticPP 1 $k 0.01789755 secondly, I ...

Re: Hysteretic Material

Dear Armkam

I used steel01 material with a small value (b=0.0000001) for hardening ratio and also I used hysteretic material with the factor 10000000, but the results did not change. The difference between the results is much and I conducted time history analysis.

materail model

Hi everyone

I want to model SDOF systems with bi-linear behavior considering the post-yielding ratio, both hardening and softening. I used steel01 material for this purpose but it is not considered softening with this material. What should I do for considering both hardening and softening?

Thanks

Re: Hysteretic Material

Dear armkam

Thank you for your consideration. I did it but the results did not change by applying factor 1000. I need to solve this problem. I would be grateful if someone could solve that.
