Re: Inelastic isolator

You can use the ElastomericBearingPlacticity element

Just use the value of alpha2 = 0 and mu=1.

Re: difference in first period

Hi, why don't you try using a linear transformation instead of PDelta and compare the periods. They must be exactly the same.

Re: Restraining Support

Thank you for your comment.
I used elastic sections and made some corrections which resulted in a period of 0.78 sec, which looks more reasonable.

Restraining Support

Hi, I am trying to model a 10 story 3D (2 bay by 3 bay) shear wall building with fiber sections. To model the shear wall I used nonlinear beam column element. Rigid link with beam type was used to connect the nodes of the wall at the floor levels. Rigid diaphragm action is considered. But using this...

Re: ElastomericBearing Element

I think it is beter if you use a uniaxialmaterial "hysteretic" for the axial properties, whereas using uniaxialmaterial elastic for torsional properties.

Re: a question in modeling isolated bridge

I am not sure about the bridges but in case of isolated buildings people have been using stiffness proportional damping and has been quoted in many literature. For the best ideas you can have a look at "Appropriate viscous damping for nonlinear time‐history analysis of base‐isolated reinforced ...
