Re: uniform excitation - it isn't applied to the structure
when I change direction in the uniform excitation command to 2 it isn't any problem either
the structures moves in the vertical direction and outputs are not zero
(my omdel is 2D)

uniform excitation - it isn't applied to the structure
I am modeling a steel moment frame plastic hinges (zerolength elements) are considered at the ends of beams and columns but in a small distance from connection. this small distance (about 0.2m) is considered rigid (elasticbeamcolumn with big E) and between plastic hinges is considered elastic. i don...

now I have this problem again, and don't know what should be done.. :} what's the reason?

Re: Why my IDA curve is linear?
no it doesn't have a softening branch, just its slope decreases

Re: Why my IDA curve is linear?
yes I have multiplied records into 9806 ( g in mm/s^2) (my units are N,mm) This is my code for performing IDA: set rec 19; set SS 0.005; for {set step 1} {$step <= 12} {incr step 1} { source Modeling.tcl; source ReadSMDfile.tcl; source ReadSMDfileNPTS.tcl; source LibAnalysisDynamicParameters.tcl; ##...

Why my IDA curve is linear?
Hello everybody!
my ida curve is linear while the pushover curve becomes nonlinear?
when I increase Sa(T1) it does converge and goes up. even for Sa=7!!
does anyone know what might be the problem?

Doesn't record anymore
when I run my codes, they don't record outputs anymore!! codes haven't changed. they are the same as the past, when they recorded properly. Does anyone know what might be the problem? I copied my files into another drive, but nothing changed. It doesn't say any warning nor errors, but doesn't record...

Re: when leaning column is necessary?
I have heard that if the frame is peripheral then leaning columns should be considered. is this true? why?

when leaning column is necessary?
Hi everybody! when it's necessary to consider P-delta effects by using a leaning column? if the frame is a 2d peripheral frame withdrawn from a 3d structure, is it necessary to define leaning columns? Does "Being a peripheral or middle frame" make any difference for considering or not cons...

Re: Rigid beams in fiber modeling of RC shear wall (urgent)
Thank you very much for answering Mr mhscott
I wrote "urgent" because I have a little time for my thesis.
what do you mean? how I should understand by a smaller model if the rigidity is enough?

Rigid beams in fiber modeling of RC shear wall (urgent)
I am modeling a dual system (SMRF with RC shear wall) in Opensees - (10 story) i have question about modeling wall if i want to model it by fiber method, i have used a nonlinearBeamColumn element in the center of wall and the fiber wall section is assigned to. and rigid beams in both sides of wall c...
