Re: Frame P-Delta effects by Leaning column

well, actually each time to check my conceptions about the method I have drawn a 2 story moment frame under lateral loads in deformed shape, and then I see to consider the p-delta effects, we only need an extra moment to be opposed on frame and no shear forces should be developed unless we have also...

Re: Frame P-Delta effects by Leaning column

again thanks for your reply dear fmk, now I have just one last question regarding the increase of frame base shear in a pushover analysis: if in a real frame, do we have the same phenomena, I mean the lateral displacement of the frame would oppose both an additional shear and moment to the frame or ...

Re: Frame P-Delta effects by Leaning column

Thanks for your help dear professor fmk and also for the paper I studied it, it was very helpful to clear me about the method, but my problem is that I have not used this method to solely account for the p-delta effects of the leaning columns or the gravity columns in my frame, actually I have no gr...

Frame P-Delta effects by Leaning column

I think there is an issue with so called "Leaning Column" technique that is commonly used by OpenSees users to model P-Delta effects in 2D frames what I have understood is so, if it is wrong please correct me! In this method we define a virtual leaning frame next by our frame, with almost ...

Problem with Rigid Diaphragm or equalDOF in Joint2D elements

Briefly I have an RCS frame with nonlinear RC Columns and nonlinear steel Beams (both by fiber sections) connected by Joint2D elements. First, how to apply an equalDOF to the central node of the Joint2D elements in the floor levels. because nevertheless I change the model dimension into a -2d -4dof ...

having problems with seires material

Hi everybody I have a model of 2D RCS frame composed of nonlinear RC columns and steel beams (fiber section) with 2D joint elements. The joint element implements a series material for the central node and the external nodes are rigidly connected to the column and beam. The series material uses a ste...

Re: Eigen Value Analysis

Well! Another step forward! I find out that the problem was with series material used in joint2D elements, because when you delete the series material (Hysteretic plus uniaxialMaterial) and model a joint2D element with only uniaxialMaterial or a hysteretic material for the central node of joint2D el...

I have got a clue!

Hi Doing more analysis I found out that if I put the Eigen vaue analysis before gravity analysis, it can not grasp the stiffness of Joint2D elements! I mean that what ever I change the parameters of uniaxialMaterials of joint2D element the results of Eigen value analysis would be the same as I have ...

Problem with series material in joint2D element

Hi Problem regarding Eigen value analysis! I hove modeled a 3 story-3 bay RCS frame composed of nonlinear elements with fiber sections (steel02, concrete02) for beams and columns and joint2D elements with in series connected uniaxial and hysteretic materials for their central node, the mass and load...

Composite Sections

Hi I have some questions regarding defining a composite section using fiber section command 1-When I define the geometry of the section using patch command, should I give the coordination of nodes according to the local axes (located at the geometric center) of the whole section, or I need to define...

Composite Beam-Column Connections

Hi Please help 1-I am modeling an RCS frame (composite frames with RC Columns and Steel beams) with composite Beam-Columns joints where steel beams passes directly through the reinforced concrete in joint location.I guess, I should use joint2D element where there should be two springs connected in s...

Re: any Tcl editors software?

hi, u could use Komodo Editor, it has some special features that makes it really easy programming with tcl.
here it is the link for download:
