Dual Rigid Diaphragms in Same Floor
Dear All, I wish to know is there an option in OS to create a floor slab with more than on rigid diaphragm which is not adjacent to each other? I want to know the relevant code part of it in the OS source code. I wish to know also the literature alternative, if there is any, which one OS implements ...

Gravity Loading Results in a Zero displacement
Dear All, I have 1 storey structure to analyze under the gravity loading, I defined the ElasticBeamColumn Element where it has an option for the line mass( mass per length) to be applied to the ElasticBeamColumn element but it seems that it doesn't take any effect, OpenSees produces the zero displac...

Dynamic Equation solution techniques?
Dear All,
With which technique in math it's been solved the general dynamic equations such as K-lamda*M=F, this actually is eigenvalue problem. But which methods is preffered in general and which method uses OpenSees ?

Re: Theoritical Implementation of Rigid diaphragm
The thing with MPC and master-slave relation is conceivable to some extent. But I find it difficult to understand how the untransferable forces of slave nodes remains at the slave nodes and are eliminated during the Guyan reduction, so are they included in solution of overall linear algebraic system...

Theoritical Implementation of Rigid diaphragm
Hi all,
I'd like to know where can I find documentation on how OpenSEES implements the rigid diaphragm of 3D structures. It's also possible to study it from code but it would be very hard to understand. So your help will be appreciated ?

Yield Line Implementation
Dear All, Yield line pattern prediction may come in many flavours, but the one that I'm interested is mainly on RC structures load transfering from slabs to girders. Using the FEM triangular or quadrilateral shell elements I wish to know how the implementation can be performed ? I also have introduc...

How to include the self weight loads of frame.
Hi community members, My question is not directly related with OpenSEES but with the general FEM theory itself. Suppose that arbitrarily oriented frame element exist in space which has 12x12 stiffness and mass matrices, how am I supposed to include the self weight of that element into the general so...

Re: Triangular Plate bending element
I know it's not directly related with OpenSees, but at least is related with FEM in theory and I know that it's always boresome thing to spot what the someone has done errenously. At least does anyone can shed the light on whether the THT element ( Henschel, Tocher, 1969) is reliable and widely acce...

Triangular Plate bending element
Hi All, I'm attempting to write my own code of triangular plate element in bending. I'm very familiar with theory of bending both thin and thick. My first attempt was to formulate triangular element which has area coordinates as shape function for the starting point. Having those in hand my triangul...
