Hysteretic material

Dear all I have modeled a steel building in which all members are modeled using fiber elements. I also need to use hysteretic material ( to consider the deterioration in structural components due to cyclic loading) How can I define the parameters defined in "Hysteretic Material"? Looking f...

Re: fiber and ibbara model

Dear afakhimi
I have modeled a steel building in wich all members are modeled using fiber elements.
I also need to use hysteretic material ( to consider the deterioration)
How could you define the parameters?
Looking forward to your guidance.
Thank you

plastic deformation

Dear all, I have used following recorder to record the plastic rotation around "Y" local axis(3D model): recorder Element -xml Data/wholeplasticDeformation7.txt -time -ele 7 plasticDeformation and the output file is as follow: 117 -0.000499 74.7 -0.000138257 0.4 -2.71051e-19 74.7 -0.003709...

Re: increasing cyclic displacement

Dear Professor Michael H. Scott
Thank you very much for your concern
I just want to obtain displacements of the element at each cycle, to plot the displacement history of element due to cyclic loading.

Re: Plastic rotation of fiber elements

Dear professor Michael H. Scott
Can I use these plastic rotations to evaluate the performance of structural members?
(I evaluate performance of the structure based on FEMA provisions, using the plastic rotations limit states presented in FEMA).
Looking forward to your guidance
Sincerely yours

increasing cyclic displacement

Dear all, I've modeled a steel structure using fiber dispBeamColumn elements (3D model). I want to apply cyclic displacement (with increasing amplitude at each cycle) to a column to obtain the buckling load of the column using nonlinear static analysis. I've written the following code. Is it correct...

Re: Applying Cyclic Loading to ZeroLength Element

Dear rgrosa I want to apply cyclic displacement (with increasing amplitude at each cycle) to a column to obtain the buckling load of the column. I write the following code using your commands. Is it correct? (The cyclic displacement is applied in y direction and the node No. of two ends of the colum...

Re: cyclic load

Dear elisapaso I appreciate your quick response, I just have some question: 1-what is NKK? 2-where should I put the recorder command to record the displacement at each step? 3-I want to apply a cyclic displacement in which the amplitude of applied displacement is increased at each cycle, if I'm not ...

Re: Plastic rotation of fiber elements

Dear professor Michael H. Scott
Thank you very much, I'm trying to get the recommended article, It seems very helpful to my research
By the way is there a command in opensees to get the elastic rotations?
I thank you again
Sincerely yours
