Re: Potential bugs in Shell element
Hi Wael Elhaddad, Thank you for your answer. I do not have the source to compile. I will really appreciate if you can share the file you compiled with me. I have created a box folder, where you can upload it. Here the link: https://uofi.box.com/s/bzu8pfi95yykhd6jhn6z Thank you in advance for your ti...

Re: Potential bugs in Shell element
Elhaddad, I am having the same troubles that you faced in March, were you able to somehow include the mass in your shell element? Thank you for the response. I am trying to run properly a linear dynamic analysis in a rectangular tunnel with Shellelements. I need my tunnel model to work to include it...

PROBLEMS ADDING MASS TO A SHELL ELEMENT
Hello everyone, I am trying to use Shell elements to define a tunnel under dynamic analysis. But I am having troubles if my analysis has shell elements with non-zero rho value and subjected to ground excitation. My model has 1026 nodes and 988 elements. Element type: ShellMITC4 Material: section Ela...

FATAL: PressureDependMultiYield::updateActiveSurface<>:error
Hi, I am trying to run a 3D nonlinear time history analysis of a soil model. I am using the PressureDependMultiyield model in Bbarbrick elements. The model consists of 35046 nodes and 31668 elements. I am using the option of introducing the modulus reduction curves manually. The error I am getting i...

Re: FATAL: second_order_eqn: Complex roots
Hi, Thank you for your post. As I explained I am using the PressureDependent model with the user defined modulus reduction curves, if I ran the same model with the PressureDependent automatic curves I do not get the error. I found the error here: http://opensees.berkeley.edu/WebSVN/filedetails.php?r...

FATAL: second_order_eqn: Complex roots
I want to run a time history analysis in a 3D soil model with 35046 nodes and 31668 Bbarbricks elements. I am using the PressureDependentMultiyield soil model with the option of user defined surfaces. After my model passes the update of the material from elastic to plastic, I get this warning two ti...

Re: WARNING invalid nodeId
Thank you Frank for your answer. I recorded the OpenSees Interpreter when I ran my nonlinear model to make sure if the Warning was the cause of the time history to stop running. I actually found out that after the 2 warnings, I get this message: FATAL: second_order_eqn: Complex roots I tracked it do...

Re: Trouble with memory for 3D soil model
Thank you for the answer. I am indeed using sparse solver. I left the model running in NEESHub, and it was running slowly, but running. The next day when I logged in to my session, the OpenSees Interpreter was frozen, meaning the the screen was grey. I opened again the OpenSees Interpreter from the ...

NEESHub Interpreter got frozen
I am running a 3D soil model using Bbarbrick with around 32000 elements in NEESHub. Yesterday I left it running, and it was running slowly, but running. And today when I logged in to my session, the OpenSees Interpreter was frozen, meaning the the screen was grey. I opened again the OpenSees Interpr...

Trouble with memory for 3D soil model
I am trying to run a dynamic analysis for a 3D soil model using Bbarbrick elements with 31668 elements and 35046 nodes in OpenSees 2.4, do you think it is necessary to use parallel processing for this problem? I have run successfully a column of soil with the same soil and analysis properties for ma...
