Incompatibility between OpenSees versions

Hallo all, I found out that an input file running on the 1.7.3 does not work with 1.7 4 and 1.7.5. I attach the file below. Could you explain why? thanks, andrea # ------------------------------ # OpenSees input file # Andrea Mordini - 2006 # # File automatically generated # Units: N, m, s # -------...

multilinear material

I need a uniaxial multilinear material. That means that I should be able to build the uniaxial curve by entering the stress/strain values of at least 5 point for each tension/compression direction.
How could I do this?

missing part in the documentation

Hallo Silvia,

I am not able to visualize a lot of figures in the material part of the website (fro example Steel02, Steel02...).
Is it a problem of my browser/connection?
Moreover, is it possible to have some documentation on the new element inserted in the 1.7.4 version?

thanks

I was not able to make it working too.
You can use

Code: Select all

print nodes.out node

The -mass option does not work for UniformExcitation for nonLinearBeamColumn. You have two possibilities: 1- use dispBeamColumn 2- concentrate the mass at the nodes. I tried many times to ask to fix this bug, also to the creator of the element but no answer so far. Maybe Frank can have a look to thi...

Could you add the -dT function to the documentation?

Obviously the eigensolver uses only the mass and stiffness matrices. The complex modal analysis (taking into account the damping matrix as well) is not implemented.

Maybe it would be better if one developer do this...a not-expert with coding can waste much time.
The output of mass, stiffness and damping matrices have been many many times requested by the users...

You can use the -mass command applied on the elements.
But this option still has problems: for example, with the nonlinearBeamColumn it does not work with UniformExcitation.
I think this should be an important bug to fix. Could some developers work on it?

recorders for quad elements

Running an analysis with quad elements and writing results with recorder Element -file quadstress.out -time -region 3 force I get 2 values for each integration point. I think the values should be three (sig x, sig y, tau xy). Using the print element command in fact I obtain 3 values. How can this di...

I obtained the same empty files for the recorder with eigen option.
This option seems to be not working.
I solved the problem by using the print node command.

Also...using this elastic section there is no way to obtain ALL the internal forces along the element...
Otherwise, if possible, could you explain me how?
